When I paint zebras, I see them as a vessel for visualising futuristic themes such as AI, using digital spaces to escape tragedy and the rise of non-fungible tokens. My intention is to communicate this message in a stylistically unique way, using the zebras as my central subject matter.
What started as a once-off painting during an extended lockdown evolved into a career decision. Initially, featuring a zebra in my work may have seemed like a humorous choice, given their flamboyant and attention grabbing nature. However, incorporating them repetitively has made them a consistent theme across all my works, regardless of the medium I choose.
I chose the zebra because it’s recognisable and acts as a signature for my artwork, I can explore any medium I wish and still stick to a central theme that all fits into the same catalogue
